mules and such

A friend told me last night that he believes people move and travel overseas because they like to have to struggle for things - staying in one place is too easy. I’m not sure I entirely agree, but maybe I am blinded by my own masochism. I do know that China has put a different spin on things for me; when I hear loud bangs at night, I can never quite rule out the possibility that the Revolution has begun.

I’ve been seeing many more mule-drawn carts on the street recently. I haven’t trusted them since one pulled by a particularly jumpy animal swerved into the bike lane and cut me off a few months ago. That was a first for me.
